Dried Words Crackle

Dried words

But they don’t catch fire

Choking in silence

Crackling away from memory

Our distance is apparent

Scorched affection

Why even bother zone

Together I’m feeling alone

In these dried words.

*

Heartburn for weeks

Every verse is returning acid

Nonsensical dreams

Mocking my personal maze

Hard to sleep next to a stranger

But I have the feeling

I’m the one who has changed

Can’t blame every error

On outside interference

The only consistent factor

Is right here in my body

In my mind.

*

I long for the days when we were swimming through minutes together

Fewer questions and concerns just captivated by each other’s company

I’d escape my indifference and moved toward positive possibilities between us

Presently I feel full of empty with a metal expression did you forget me already?
