Cold Side Of A Blanket

Hey, comfortable, go to sleep

Promise tomorrow then forget

And I’ll pretend waiting for you isn’t hard

I’ll lay here and check my wishes’ tickets

Some aren’t authorized anymore.

Maybe I can’t sleep

Because you can without urgency

And the best solution is to get past what I want

Toss a few twigs once in a while

Pretend I’m content behind a fabricated smile

Stay on the shore but never drift

Turning my old stove dials down.

Holler at my pen again

Contain my innermost thunderstorms, my wind

Turn my head away

Write my dissatisfaction waves pages below

Fertilize maturity watching contentment in and out of abundance grow.
