It Rains While You Sleep

Secret is, I thought laying next to you would be armor

Super vitamins, from your love yeah your smile and your joy

I figured, I’d be on fire to be a better man

Assumed, I’d never be cold towards living again

Now I wonder if I’ve dragged you down my road of shame

I’ll pray for five minutes, read my Bible for ten, then stumble through these days

Under pressure, my head hurts and I feel close to the grave

Feels like I have betrayed your trust

Hard to pray when I feel twisted and torn up

Where can I hide, better put this pride to death

Come before the throne and ask God Almighty for help.

You think I’m so strong and bold

Baby, I just wait until you’re asleep

Thinking about my errors, honey, thinking about being a better man

You sleep safe and warm while I toss in a barrel roll and sweat fears

Sure you tell me how we’re in this together

Not good enough tattooed behind my eyelids I’m under the weather

And I thought the hardest part was getting your attention

But the hardest part is earning more than an honorable mention in our marriage

Where can I hide, better put this pride to death

Come before the throne and ask God Almighty for help.
