Bedroom Lighting

After working the graveyard funeral shift, I ride over to rest my head on her chest.

Early morning sex and cereal, rubbing my back asking if I believe in love power.

Secret for now, but it’s hard to hide how we feel, ready with our agreements.

Discontinuing loose ends to join up, muting our phones for hours.

Our brown eyes meet, I say she’s sweet, she says but will you love me after my so-called perfection subsides.

Test me every day and twilight, surely soon we’ll be sharing the same bedroom lights.
